“Yaks on Tour”

After the success of the Himalaya Film Festival 2005 in Amstelveen (the Netherlands), the Himalaya Archief has organised a tour round the Netherlands that goes by the name “Yaks on Tour”. Visitors may enjoy a selection of 14 films from the three previous Himalaya Film Festivals.

The 14 authentic films and documentaries will carry you off to the wonderful world of Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, and Northern India. By presenting this footage, the Himalaya Archief offers a great opportunity to discover the Himalayan region as it really is. “We have to look beyond the common stereotypes,” says organizer Mr Glenn Mitrasing.

The kick-off of “Yaks on Tour” was on Saturday 4 February at the Provadja Theater at Alkmaar. Subsequently, the travelling film program will visit several theaters in the Netherlands. Please see www.himalayafilmfestival.nl for information on dates and places.

Last November, the Himalaya Film Festival was held in the Netherlands for the third time. The concept also attracted attention from other countries, such as Japan and Canada. This August the film festival will travel to Tokyo and show the people of Japan the true face of the Himalaya region. Please see also www.himalaya-tokyo.net.

The 4th Himalaya Film Festival will be held in the Netherlands in February 2007.
