Festival guest: actress Bai Ling

On March 30, Katja Schuurman will open CinemAsia Film Festival’s second edition. The popular Dutch actress will present the Hong Kong opening film DUMLINGS in the Cinerama theater in Amsterdam. After the viewing, Katja will have an unusual talk with Bai Ling, the film’s Chinese leading actress and guest of honor of the opening evening.

No woman can resist the temptation of potential rejuvenation, for some a dreamy blissful chase, for others a never-ending nightmare of endless pursuit. Qing (Miriam Yeung), an ex-starlet turned wife of a prominent rich man, is determined to have this dream come true and visits the mysterious chef Mei (Bai Ling) to obtain her famous specialty dumplings. Qing is no gourmet, but simply dying to maintain her youth and beauty. At stake is her new “career” as a housewife of the rich. Mei developed a secret recipe for rejuvenation which has allowed her to bid farewell to her career as an abortionist. Mei can fulfill a woman's desire -- all you need is a leap of faith to take a bite into her special dumplings.

Tickets are 8.50 euros (no reductions), available at the Filmmuseum Vondelpark cashier from March 20th. Reserved tickets that are not collected one hour prior to the screening will be made available for sale at the Cinerama theater cashier.
