Self-absorbed fashion victim Putri is resolved to win back her sports-mad ex-boyfriend, Eddy, who has left her for futsal fanatic Shasha. Putri attempts to join Shasha’s team, is rejected and decides to start her own team.
Putri’s isn’t a team of naturals, rather a motley team of barbie dolls and butch dykes. But they train hard and eventually play against Shasha’s team. Putri has learned that scoring a goal can be more fun than scoring with a guy and is determined to win.
This film, where Clueless meets Bend it like Beckham in Malaysia, dares to focus on more complex issues; Putri’s team reflects the racial and religious tensions in Malaysia and in the film the patronizing attitude towards girls is addressed.
