Cinemasia Filmlab
In 2006 CinemAsia organized the first Film LAB
in order to stimulate media production within the
local Asian community in Holland. The incredibly
positive response affirmed the need for more
representation of Asians on the screen and in
the media. In total Cinemasia Film LAB has
produced 6 short films. This year CinemAsia is
proud to once again present the 2010 Film LAB
program.
This year we ask participants to submit a proposal
that pertains to the main festival theme
“UNDERDOG HERO"
Proposals dealing with the Asian Dutch cultural
background and heritag are encouraged under
this theme.

Frequently Asked Questions:
•How many proposals will be selected ?
3 proposals for films of 5-15 minutes will be selected.
•Who will write and direct the film ?
Winners will write and direct their own film.
•How much money will i receive to make the film ?
Winners will receive 500 euros plus free use of equipment and facilities from the Binger Insitute.
•Who will produce the film?
3 producers from the Netherlands Film Academie will be assigned to each person to produce their film. Additionally, 3 mentors will oversee the process for each filmmaker. The mentors are Yan Ting Yuen, Djie Han Thung and Doris Yeung.
•Where will the films be shown?
Finished films will be shown during the “Made in Holland” section of the film festival dedicated to Asian short films made in Holland. Finished films will be shown a second time during the Asian-European Filmmakers panel where they will discuss the process and experience.
• No previous film experience necessary
• Proposals can be submited by anyone as long as content of proposal deals with Asian/Dutch identity.
The upcoming edition of Cinemasia 2010 will be in Het Ketelhuis, Amsterdam (Westergasfabriek)
